Bandicoot – Fuzzy Single review

More new music from bandicoot can only be a good thing in my book, and I’m happy to report that the newest single “Fuzzy” is up to the usual high standards. Its upbeat, its fun and you can definitely have a dance to it. It kicks in with a nice little drum fill and settles in to a lovely bouncing rhythm that sets the happy go lucky feel of the tune, it makes me think of someone strutting down the street on a lovely summers day with a big smile on their face happy to see everyone. There’s a swagger to to singer Rhys’s vocals that’s almost a bit Elvis like as the verses bounce along and it suits the tune perfectly, the chorus just seems to be a simple one line hook that really works, catchy and simple is no bad thing at all. Now I know I make a lot of comparisons to 90’s bands when I write about stuff (sorry, but that’s just my era) but this tune is very britpop, like Supergrass at their most poppy, and that’s no bad thing at all. The tune meanders a bit as the guitars have some fun with that bouncing rhythm of the tune and then all of a sudden the song is at its end, well I say all of a sudden, its a well structured well put together song, its just only 2 minutes long and definitely leaves me wanting more, hopefully the boys will follow up this single as quickly as they did the last one.

This tune is gonna be a great one live, and personally I cant wait to see bandicoot live again. If you havn’t seen or heard bandicoot before then “Fuzzy” is a great place to start, its got all of the stuff that bandicoot do well, its catchy, its fun, you can bounce around the dance floor listening to it (or I suppose you’re kitchen or your living at the moment) and you’ll be humming it for days.
